‘Be charmed by Henfield’s atmosphere and spirit’

The history of Henfield stretches back to 770AD and its claims to one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world (1771) and the oldest Scout group in the country (1907) simply add to the charm of this delightful rural market town.

Henfield sits on a fertile sandy ridge that overlooks the River Adur and South Downs escarpment. The beautiful countryside extends right into the heart of the village, from the three public commons and playing fields on its edge to the ancient Tanyard Field that lies near the 13th century St Peter’s church.

The village has many other interesting features for visitors to enjoy, including a network of character streets and twittens that criss-cross this beautiful conservation area, a wide selection of shops, restaurants, pubs and regular farmers’ markets. Whatever visitors come to Henfield to enjoy, the intimate and friendly atmosphere and the strong community spirit that’s evident throughout Henfield will certainly charm them all.

Hidden Britain’s Henfield

Hidden Britain is a community-focussed, not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to helping businesses, residents, community groups and local authorities come together to develop the tourism potential within their community.

We worked with the people who want to share what they love about Henfield and helped them develop an effective business and marketing strategy that would attract visitors to their village and share the experiences they enjoy here with others.
